Somerset Food Safety Policy
Somerset County Council is involved in all sorts of activities; however, a common element in several of its main functions is that the authority needs to provide food. As it is dedicated to ensuring that the food it supplies is safe, the Council has produced a Food Safety Policy. This gives guidance and instruction to all relevant personnel on the Council’s requirements to satisfy both the applicable laws and to maintain good industry practice in the preparation and provision of its food.
Devon, Somerset and Torbay Trading Standards Service provides professional advice, assistance and expertise to each Somerset County Council service area or operating entity in the implementation of the Policy, as well as developing and establishing the necessary controls.
This policy and Trading Standards’ role in it helps ensure that food provided by Somerset County Council is safe, hygienic, correctly labelled (for things such as allergens etc.) and maintains the high standard customers have a right to expect.
